Atlantic RecordsIf you listened to Ed Sheeran’s smash #1 hit “Shape of You” and were reminded of TLC’s classic hit “No Scrubs” when you heard the line “Boy let’s not talk too much/grab on my waist and put that body on me”….well, you weren’t the only one.
Billboard reports that the people who wrote “No Scrubs” have now been added to the credits of Ed’s hit, because rhythmically, the line is so reminiscent of the “No Scrubs” chorus. The song was co-written by Kandi Burruss and Tameka “Tiny” Cottle from the girl group Xscape, as well as Kevin “She’kspere” Briggs.
Kandi, who now appears on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, celebrated the good news on Instagram, writing, “Thank you for allowing [Tiny] & I to share in the success of #ShapeofYou!”
