HBO Readies “Marathon: The Patriots Day Bombing”

HBO – 2016(NEW YORK) — On Monday, HBO will release its documentary Marathon: The Patriots Day Bombing, about the deadly Islamic terror attack on the 2013 Boston Marathon.

Three people were killed and 264 were injured in the blasts.

Using everything from interviews with victims, surveillance footage, and news coverage from The Boston Globe and elsewhere, the project will profile the attack, from the shattering of what should have been a celebratory event, through the bloody pursuit of the sibling perpetrators, Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev, and the death sentence verdict for surviving bomber Dzhokhar.

The documentary tracks the story through the eyes of some of its victims, including a newlywed couple, a mother and daughter and two brothers who all were gravely injured by the terrorists’ homemade bombs.

The documentary should not be confused with Patriots Day, the dramatized big-screen version of the attack, starring Bostonian Mark Wahlberg and directed by his Lone Survivor and Deepwater Horizon filmmaker Peter Berg. That film hits theaters in limited release on December 21.
