Zara Larsson’s eclectic new album, “So Good,” is “a little bit of this and that”

ABC/Lorenzo BevilaquaA massive star in her native Sweden, Zara Larsson broke through in the U.S. last year with her hit “Never Forget You.”  That hit is included on her new album, So Good, her first to be released internationally.  The album features an eclectic mix of sounds, but Zara says that was pretty much accidental.

“I think I’m just influenced by a lot of things,” she tells ABC Radio. “Pop is so broad and what I love about it is that you’re allowed to be inspired by different genres.”

“I think it just happened because I enjoy different types of music and I let myself be influenced by that,” she adds.

The set features collaborations with Ty Dolla $ign, Clean Bandit, Wizkid and MNEK, and includes electro-pop, reggae, dance-pop, R&B, edgier club tracks and piano ballads.  Zara explains that all the types of music she loves converge on the album:

“I love hip-hop. That’s basically the only thing I’m listening to,”she explains. “And I also brought in the dancehall vibe and there’s ballads. It’s a little bit of this and that.”

Zara heads out on tour with Clean Bandit at the end of this month.
